Course Firing
Course Firing lets a captain or manager control exactly when each course of a table's order (Drinks, Starters, Mains, Desserts) is sent to the kitchen to start prep, rather than firing everything the moment the order is placed — so starters go out first and mains only fire once the table has actually finished them.
Overview
Every occupied table with an open order appears as a card, broken into its courses; each course has its own lifecycle — Pending → Fired → Ready → Served — separate from the KOT's own overall Pending/Preparing/Ready/Served/Cancelled status.
"Fire" sends a course to the kitchen (stamps firedAt and starts a live elapsed timer that turns red past 15 minutes); the kitchen marking it Ready shows a 🔔 badge and green highlight on the table card.
A per-table shortcut button on the card header fires whichever course is next in the Pending queue for that table without opening each row individually.
"Bulk Fire" opens a modal to fire one selected course type (e.g. all Mains) across multiple selected tables at once — only tables that actually have that course pending are offered.
The board auto-refreshes every 30 seconds so a course marked Ready by the kitchen (from Kitchen Display (KDS)) appears here without a manual reload.
Filter chips narrow the board to Active tables, tables with something Ready to serve, or All tables.
Before You Start
- You must have the Billing feature enabled on your plan.
Step-by-Step Guide
1 Fire a course for one table
- Open Course Firing and find the table (or use the "Ready to serve" filter to jump straight to tables the kitchen is waiting on).
- Click "Fire" on the specific course row, or use the header shortcut button to fire whatever course is next in that table's queue.
2 Serve a ready course
- When a course shows the 🔔 "Ready!" badge, click "Served" on that course row to close it out.
3 Bulk-fire a course across several tables
- Click "Bulk Fire" and choose the course type (e.g. Mains).
- Deselect any tables you don't want included from the list of eligible tables (those with that course still Pending), then confirm to fire it for the remaining tables at once.
Every Field & Button, Explained
| Field / Button | What it does |
|---|---|
Course lifecycle | Pending → Fired → Ready → Served, tracked per course per table — independent of the KOT-level status shown on the Kitchen Orders (KOT) and Kitchen Display (KDS) pages. |
Elapsed timer | Starts counting from firedAt once a course is Fired; turns red once it has been in the kitchen for more than 15 minutes. |
KPI strip | Pending / In Kitchen (Fired) / Ready / Served counts across all tables, plus a separate Active Tables count. |
Tips & Best Practices
- Use the per-table header shortcut for the common case of firing "whatever's next"; reach for Bulk Fire only when you deliberately need the same course fired for several tables at once, such as a large party or banquet.
- The 🔔 "Kitchen Ready" badge means every course fired so far for that table is Ready — it does not mean the whole order is done if the table still has Pending courses waiting to be fired.
