QR Table Ordering
QR Table Ordering generates a scannable link per table that opens your digital menu for customers to browse and order from their own phone. You control whether prices and allergen info show on the customer-facing menu, and whether orders placed this way queue for staff approval before a KOT is fired to the kitchen, or fire automatically.
Overview
Each table gets its own QR tile built from a Base URL you set plus a store slug and the table number (pattern: {baseUrl}/{storeSlug}/t/{tableNumber}); until a Base URL is configured, tiles show a placeholder and the copy/open actions are disabled.
The on-screen QR graphic is a stylised placeholder pattern for visual purposes — the actual scannable payload is the real table URL, which is also shown as text and can be copied or opened directly.
"Print All" generates an A4-style printout with one QR tile per table (2 per row) for laminating and placing on tables.
When "Require Staff Confirmation" is on (the default), an order placed by a customer via QR sits in the Pending Orders tab until a staff member clicks "Fire KOT" (which sends it to the kitchen) or "Reject" — orders older than 5 minutes are highlighted as overdue.
When staff confirmation is off, QR orders fire straight to the kitchen as KOTs without appearing in the pending queue.
"Show Prices" and "Show Allergen Info" toggles control what customers see on the digital menu itself, independent of the confirmation setting.
Before You Start
- You must have the Billing feature enabled on your plan.
- Tables must exist under your table setup for QR tiles to generate; add tables first if the QR Codes tab is empty.
Step-by-Step Guide
1 Turn on QR ordering and set the menu URL
- Open Takeaway & Delivery → QR Table Ordering and switch to the Settings tab.
- Toggle "Enable QR Ordering" on, then enter your Digital Menu Base URL (e.g. https://menu.yourdomain.com).
- Decide whether to require staff confirmation, and whether to show prices/allergens on the customer-facing menu.
- Click "Save Settings".
2 Print QR codes for your tables
- Switch to the QR Codes tab and optionally filter by section.
- Use "Copy" to copy a single table's link, "Open" to preview the menu it points to, or "Print All" to generate a printable sheet of every table's QR code at once.
3 Approve or reject a QR order
- When Require Staff Confirmation is on, open the Pending Orders tab — orders older than 5 minutes are flagged so nothing sits too long unattended.
- Click "Fire KOT" to approve and send the order to the kitchen, or "Reject" to decline it (e.g. item unavailable).
Every Field & Button, Explained
| Field / Button | What it does |
|---|---|
Enable QR Ordering | Master on/off switch for the whole feature; when off, the customer-facing menu link should not accept new orders. |
Require Staff Confirmation | When on, every QR order queues in Pending Orders for a staff Approve/Reject action before a KOT fires; when off, KOTs fire immediately on order placement. |
Show Prices on Menu / Show Allergen Info | Independent toggles controlling what the customer sees on the digital menu — unrelated to the confirmation setting. |
Digital Menu Base URL | The domain your digital menu is hosted at; combined with a store slug and table number to build each table's unique QR link. Table tiles are disabled until this is set. |
Pending Orders | Live feed (polled every 20 seconds) of QR orders awaiting staff action when confirmation is required; each shows table, items, total, elapsed time and any customer note. |
Tips & Best Practices
- Set the Base URL before printing table QR codes — codes printed while it is blank will show a placeholder pattern instead of a working link.
- If orders seem to arrive at the kitchen with no chance to catch mistakes, check whether Require Staff Confirmation got turned off in Settings.
- Re-print a table's QR whenever you change the Base URL or store slug, since old prints will point to a stale link.
