Staff Roster

Staff Roster is a weekly grid — staff down the left, the 7 days of the week across the top — used to assign shifts (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night) to every team member. It shows each person's weekly hour total (flagging anyone over 40 hours), lets you add new staff on the spot, and prints a clean roster sheet for the notice board.

📍 Menu path: Staff & HR → Staff Roster
👤 Who uses it: All roles with the Billing feature enabled

Overview

This is a shared scheduling screen also used by other BazaarPOS variants — in the restaurant app it is reached from Staff & HR → Staff Roster.

Click any empty cell on the grid to open the shift picker for that person and day; you can select more than one shift for the same day (e.g. Morning + Evening as a split shift).

Each shift chip (M / A / E / N) has a fixed 5-hour duration used only for the weekly-hours total — it does not reflect a custom start/end time you type elsewhere.

The weekly Hrs column turns red once a person is scheduled for more than 40 hours in the displayed week.

A "Today" sidebar lists everyone on duty right now (based on the current date falling in the displayed week) so a manager can see the day's lineup at a glance.

Use "+ Add Staff" to create a brand-new staff record directly from this page (name + role) — it is saved as a roster entry, not a full employee profile.

Use the role filter chips above the grid to narrow the view to one role (e.g. only Kitchen or only Captain) without losing the rest of the week's data.

Before You Start

Step-by-Step Guide

1 Assign a shift

  1. Open Staff & HR → Staff Roster — it opens on the current week by default.
  2. Click the empty cell for the staff member and day you want to schedule.
  3. Tick one or more shifts (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night) in the picker — each shows its time window and hour count.
  4. Add an optional note (e.g. "covering for Amit"), then click Save.

2 Remove a shift

  1. Click the cell that already has one or more shift chips.
  2. Untick every shift so none remain selected — the picker warns that saving will clear the day for that person.
  3. Click Save to remove the schedule for that person on that day.

3 Add a new staff member

  1. Click "+ Add Staff" in the header.
  2. Enter the person's Name and pick a Role from the list (Waiter, Senior Waiter, Captain, Hostess, Kitchen, Delivery, Manager, Support).
  3. Click Add Staff — they immediately appear as a new row on the grid with no shifts yet.

4 Browse other weeks and print

  1. Use the ‹ and › arrows to move to the previous or next week, or click "This Week" to jump back to today's week.
  2. Use the role filter chips to show only one role at a time.
  3. Click "Print Roster" to open a printable table of the currently filtered staff and week, with a shift-key legend at the bottom.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

A newly added staff member does not appear in other pages' staff pickers.
Other restaurant pages (e.g. Section Assignment, Table Handover) build their staff list from roster entries — add at least one shift for the person, or check that they were added on the correct week, so they show up as a distinct staff record.
I deselected all shifts for a cell but the person still shows a shift there.
Saving with everything deselected only removes the shift entry tied to that specific existing record id — if the person had multiple separate entries for that day from different sources, save again after refreshing to confirm they are all cleared.
The Hrs column looks wrong for someone with a custom split shift.
Every shift chip is counted as a flat 5 hours regardless of its actual displayed time window — the total is a headcount-style estimate, not derived from precise start/end times.
