Ingredient Auto-86
Ingredient Auto-86 scans your inventory for ingredients at or below their minimum stock level, finds which recipes use them, and lists those "at-risk" dishes with a stock severity bar so you can bulk-mark them sold-out (86'd) on the 86 Board before a server tries to sell something the kitchen can no longer make.
Overview
A dish appears on this page only if it is linked (via its recipe's ingredient list) to a product whose current inventory quantity is at or below that product's configured minimum stock level.
Each row shows the dish's deficit percentage — how far current stock is below the minimum — colour-coded Warning (under 60%), Low (60–79%) or Critical (80%+); a red banner counts how many dishes are Critical.
Selecting one or more dishes and clicking "Auto-86" creates a new sold-out entry on the 86 Board for each, reason INGREDIENT_DEPLETED — dishes already actively 86'd are skipped automatically rather than duplicated.
This page only flags and lets you trigger 86 status — reinstating an item once restocked is done from the 86 Board itself, not here.
Before You Start
- You must have the Billing feature enabled on your plan.
- Ingredients must be linked to recipes (via each recipe's ingredient list, with a product link) and have a minimum stock level configured in Inventory for this page to detect anything.
Step-by-Step Guide
1 Review at-risk dishes
- Open Kitchen Operations → Ingredient Auto-86 — it loads automatically.
- Check the KPI strip for At-Risk Dishes, Critical count and how many you currently have selected.
- Review each row's stock bar (current stock vs minimum stock level) and severity badge (Warning/Low/Critical).
2 Bulk 86 depleted dishes
- Click individual dish rows to select them, or use "Select All" to select every at-risk dish shown.
- Click the "🚫 Auto-86" button — each selected dish is added to the 86 Board (skipping any already active there) and a success toast confirms how many were 86'd.
- The list reloads automatically; any dish that is now safely 86'd and restocked will drop off once its stock is back above the minimum.
Every Field & Button, Explained
| Field / Button | What it does |
|---|---|
Recipe Name / Category | The dish and its menu category, from the linked recipe. |
Needs: (ingredient) | The specific ingredient that is low in stock and is causing this dish to appear. |
Stock (current / min) | Current inventory quantity vs the configured minimum stock level for the ingredient product. |
Deficit % | (minStockLevel − currentStock) ÷ minStockLevel × 100, rounded — how far below the minimum the stock currently sits. |
Severity | Warning (under 60% deficit), Low (60–79%), Critical (80% or more, including already at zero stock). |
Tips & Best Practices
- Auto-86 only affects dishes whose recipe has a product-linked ingredient — a recipe with free-text (unlinked) ingredients will never show up here even if that ingredient is genuinely out of stock, since the system has no way to check its quantity.
- Run this check at the start of each shift, right after receiving deliveries and updating stock counts, so the 86 Board reflects reality before service starts.
- Selected dishes that are already 86'd are silently skipped when you click Auto-86 — this is expected, not an error.
