Waiter Tip Report

Waiter Tip Report is a read-only analytics view over everything logged in Staff Tip Tracking — it aggregates tips for any date range into a per-waiter ranking, a daily trend chart, and a payment-type (Cash/Card/UPI) breakdown, with four headline summary cards.

Overview

The report is calculated live from RestaurantTip rows for the selected date range — there is nothing to configure or save here, only a From/To date range and a "Go" button.

Summary cards show Total Tips Collected, Average Tip, Servers Tipped (count of distinct staff names with at least one tip), and Top Earner (the waiter with the highest total for the period).

The Per Waiter table ranks every waiter by total tips descending, showing tip count, average tip and a proportional bar relative to the top earner.

The By Payment Type panel breaks total tips into Cash/Card/UPI/Other shares as both amount and percentage of the period total.

The Daily Tip Trend chart is a simple bar chart of total tips per calendar day across the selected range.

Before You Start

You must have the Billing feature enabled on your plan.
Tips must already be logged via Staff Tip Tracking — this report has no data-entry of its own.

Step-by-Step Guide

1 Run the report for a date range

Open Finance & Payments → Waiter Tip Report — it loads the last 30 days by default.
Adjust the From and To date pickers and click "Go" to recalculate.
Review the four summary cards, the Per Waiter ranking table, the By Payment Type breakdown, and the Daily Tip Trend chart at the bottom.

Every Field & Button, Explained

Field / Button	What it does
`Total Tips Collected`	Sum of every tip amount in the selected date range, with the count of tip entries shown underneath.
`Average Tip`	Total Tips Collected ÷ number of tip entries in range.
`Servers Tipped`	Number of distinct waiter names (staffName) that received at least one tip in range.
`Top Earner`	The waiter with the single highest total tip amount for the range, with their total shown underneath.
`Per Waiter table`	Rank, waiter name, number of tips, average tip, total tip amount and a relative bar — sorted highest total first.
`By Payment Type`	Cash / Card / UPI / Other totals and their percentage share of the period grand total.
`Daily Tip Trend`	One bar per calendar day in range showing that day's total tip amount.

Tips & Best Practices

Use this report before running payroll to confirm each waiter's tip total for the pay period matches what was distributed via Tip Pool Distribution.
A large gap between a waiter's Cash share and their Card/UPI share can be a useful prompt to double-check cash tips are being logged consistently.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The report shows "No data" for a range I know has tips.

Double check the From/To dates — tips are matched by their tipDate field exactly within the selected range (inclusive), so a tip dated outside the range will not appear even if it was logged today.

A waiter appears twice with slightly different names.

This report groups purely by the staffName text stored on each tip — if the same waiter's name was typed or selected inconsistently across entries (rare, since tips are usually logged via a Waiter dropdown), they will show as separate rows.
