Happy Hours
Happy Hours defines time-window deals — a discount that automatically applies only during the days and hours you set, as a percentage off, a flat amount off, or a fixed special price — scoped to your whole menu, one category, or a hand-picked list of tagged items.
Overview
Each rule has a Name, a Start Time and End Time, and a set of Days of Week it applies on — so a single rule can cover "Mon–Fri 5–7pm" while another covers "Sat–Sun 11am–2pm" for a weekend brunch deal.
Three discount types are available: Percent Off (e.g. 20% off), Fixed (₹) Off (a flat amount knocked off each qualifying item), and Fixed Price (every qualifying item sold at one set price, e.g. "all cocktails at ₹199").
Applies To controls scope: All Menu Items, a Specific Category (e.g. Cocktails & Mocktails), or Tagged Items Only (a hand-picked item list) — narrowing scope keeps a happy hour from accidentally discounting food when you only meant drinks.
Each rule has its own Active toggle, so you can prepare a deal in advance and switch it on only when you're ready, or quickly pause one without deleting its configuration.
Times are shown in familiar 12-hour format (e.g. "5:00 PM") on the list even though they're stored as 24-hour values underneath.
Before You Start
- You must have the Menu Management feature enabled on your plan.
- Decide your discount scope (all items / one category / a tagged list) before creating the rule — Applies To cannot easily be changed after the fact without re-checking which items it now covers.
Step-by-Step Guide
1 Create a category happy hour
- Click "New Happy Hour" and give it a Name (e.g. "Evening Happy Hour").
- Set Start Time and End Time, and tick the Days of Week it runs on.
- Set Discount Type to Percent Off (or Fixed/Fixed Price) and enter the value.
- Set Applies To → Specific Category and pick the category (e.g. Cocktails & Mocktails), then save with Active turned on.
2 Run a fixed-price weekend special
- Click "New Happy Hour" and set the days to just Saturday and Sunday.
- Set the time window (e.g. 11:00–14:00 for a brunch deal).
- Set Discount Type to Fixed Price and enter the special price (e.g. ₹199).
- Choose Applies To → Tagged Items Only and pick the specific dishes included in the deal, then save.
3 Pause or resume a happy hour without losing its setup
- Find the rule in the list and toggle its Active switch off to pause it immediately (e.g. during a supply shortage on that category).
- Toggle it back on whenever you want the deal to resume — all its time/day/discount settings are preserved.
Every Field & Button, Explained
| Field / Button | What it does |
|---|---|
Days of Week | Multi-select which days the rule is active on; a rule with no days selected effectively never applies. |
Discount Type (Percent/Fixed/Price) | Percent Off = % off qualifying items, Fixed Off = flat ₹ off each item, Fixed Price = every qualifying item sold at one set price regardless of its normal price. |
Applies To (All/Category/Tagged Items) | Controls scope — every menu item, one specific category, or a hand-picked list of individually tagged items. |
Active toggle | Turns a fully-configured rule on or off without deleting it, useful for temporarily pausing a deal. |
Start Time / End Time | The daily window (in 24-hour values, shown as 12-hour on the list) during which the rule's discount is live on qualifying days. |
Tips & Best Practices
- Scope drinks-only happy hours to a Specific Category rather than All Menu Items, so food doesn't get accidentally discounted alongside cocktails.
- Use Fixed Price for a simple, easy-to-communicate deal like "all beers ₹199" rather than a percentage, which is harder for guests and staff to quickly verify at the table.
- Create separate rules for weekday and weekend deals rather than one rule with every day ticked, if the discount value or time window differs between them.
