Upsell & Incentive Tracker

Upsell & Incentive Tracker logs what each server actively upsold during a shift — a bottle of wine, dessert, premium spirits — awards points per category, ranks staff on a weekly leaderboard, and calculates a monthly payout against a target so your incentive scheme has real numbers behind it instead of guesswork.

📍 Menu path: Revenue & Pricing → Upsell & Incentive Tracker
👤 Who uses it: All roles with the Billing feature enabled; editing categories and point values is a management action

Overview

Each entry records Date, Shift (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Late Night), Server Name, Covers Served, and a quantity against one or more Upsell Categories (Starters, Wine Bottle, Wine by Glass, Cocktails, Premium Spirits, Desserts, Coffee & Tea, Side Dishes, Sharing Platters, Mocktails, Soft Drinks Upgrade).

Each category has a configurable Point Value; an entry's total points is the sum of (quantity × point value) across every category logged in it.

The Weekly Leaderboard ranks servers by total points for the current week with a trophy/rank badge for the top performer — a lightweight, visible way to keep the incentive scheme motivating.

The Monthly Summary compares each server's achieved points against a configured Weekly Target and calculates a Payout using a configured Payout Rate, so the incentive scheme has a defined, auditable payout formula rather than an ad-hoc bonus.

This is distinct from general Staff Performance (which covers broader KPIs like punctuality and reviews), Tips/Gratuity tracking (separate pooled tip data), and Roster (scheduling only) — this page is specifically upsell performance data tied to an incentive payout.

Before You Start

Step-by-Step Guide

1 Log a server's upsells for a shift

  1. Click "New Entry" and pick the Date, Shift, Server Name and Covers Served.
  2. Enter the quantity sold against each relevant Upsell Category (e.g. 2 Wine Bottle, 5 Dessert).
  3. Save — the entry's total points are calculated automatically from quantity × each category's point value.

2 Check the weekly leaderboard

  1. Open the Weekly Leaderboard to see servers ranked by total points for the current week.
  2. Use the rank badge/trophy on the top performer as a visible, motivating call-out during a pre-shift briefing.

3 Calculate and print monthly payouts

  1. Open the Monthly Summary tab and review each server's achieved points against their Weekly Target.
  2. Check the calculated Payout per server, based on your configured Payout Rate.
  3. Print the payout sheet for payroll processing.

4 Update category point values or targets

  1. Open the Settings tab.
  2. Edit category names, point values per category, the weekly target, or the payout rate.
  3. Save — new entries use the updated values immediately; already-logged entries keep the point totals calculated at the time they were entered.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

A server's payout looks lower than expected.
Payout is calculated from their achieved points against the configured Weekly Target and Payout Rate — check Settings to confirm the current values, and check that all their shift entries for the period were actually logged.
The leaderboard doesn't match what I expect for this week.
The Weekly Leaderboard totals points from entries dated within the current week (Monday start) — an entry logged with a date from last week or a typo'd date won't count toward this week's ranking.
I changed a category's point value and old totals changed too.
Point totals are calculated per entry at the time you view them from the category's current point value — if you need historical entries to reflect the point value that was in effect when they were logged, treat point-value changes as effective going forward and note the change date separately.
