Kitchen Efficiency Report
Kitchen Efficiency Report measures how fast your kitchen actually fires orders — average prep time per menu item and per hour of the day, colour-banded Fast/Moderate/Slow, plus an overall letter-grade efficiency score (A–D) — so you can spot which items or hours are dragging your ticket times down.
Overview
Prep time per item is colour-banded: Fast (≤10 min, green), Moderate (11–20 min, amber), Slow (>20 min, red) — letting you scan for problem items at a glance.
An overall Efficiency Grade summarises average prep time across the period: A/Excellent (≤8 min), B/Good (≤14 min), C/Average (≤20 min), D/Needs Work (>20 min).
Two tabs let you switch between an Items view (average prep time per menu item) and an hour-of-day view (average prep time by hour, using 12-hour AM/PM labels) to see whether slowness is item-specific or tied to particular busy hours.
Covers a selectable date range, defaulting to the last 30 days for a stable average.
Before You Start
- You must have the Reports feature enabled on your plan.
- Kitchen Display / KOT timestamps (ticket fired to ticket ready) need to be captured consistently for prep times to be meaningful.
Step-by-Step Guide
1 Find your slowest items
- Open Kitchen Efficiency Report and switch to the Items tab.
- Scan for red-banded (Slow, >20 min) items.
- Investigate whether the slowness is a recipe/process issue or a station bottleneck.
2 Check if slowness is tied to specific hours
- Switch to the hour-of-day tab.
- Compare average prep times across the day to see if slow tickets cluster during your peak hours (a staffing/capacity issue) or are spread evenly (more likely an item-specific issue).
3 Track your overall efficiency grade over time
- Note your current Efficiency Grade (A–D) for the selected range.
- Re-check the same date range length periodically after making kitchen process changes to see if the grade improves.
Every Field & Button, Explained
| Field / Button | What it does |
|---|---|
Prep Time band (Fast/Moderate/Slow) | Per-item or per-hour average: Fast ≤10 min, Moderate 11–20 min, Slow >20 min. |
Efficiency Grade (A–D) | Overall grade from average prep time across the period: A ≤8 min, B ≤14 min, C ≤20 min, D >20 min. |
Items tab / Hour tab | Switches the breakdown between per-menu-item and per-hour-of-day averages. |
Tips & Best Practices
- Use a full 30-day range rather than a single busy or quiet day — prep times can vary a lot day to day and a longer window gives a more reliable picture.
- Cross-check slow hours here against your Hourly Footfall report — a slow hour that's also your peak covers hour points to a capacity problem, not a recipe problem.
