Occupancy & Table Turns

Occupancy & Table Turns reports table utilisation in depth — current occupancy rate, how many times each table turned over, average dwell time per party, total covers served, revenue per seat-hour, a 7-day peak-hour heatmap, and a full per-table breakdown of turns/covers/dwell/revenue for the selected date range.

Overview

The summary strip shows Total Tables, tables Occupied Now (live), total Covers, total Turns, Average Dwell time, and Revenue per Seat-Hour (revenue ÷ covers × average dwell hours) for the selected range.

The Peak-Hour Heatmap is a 7-day grid showing covers per hour slot, similar in shape to Hourly Footfall but scoped specifically to table occupancy data.

The Per-Table Breakdown lists every table with its own turn count, covers served, average dwell time, and revenue generated — letting you compare table-by-table rather than only looking at restaurant-wide averages.

This is the deepest table-utilisation view available — use Table Turnover Tracker for a lighter, more operational day-to-day view, and this report when you need the full analytical picture including revenue-per-seat-hour economics.

Before You Start

Step-by-Step Guide

1 Check current and historical occupancy

  1. Open Occupancy & Table Turns.
  2. Review Occupied Now for a live snapshot, and the summary strip for the selected date range's totals.

2 Find your most and least productive tables

  1. Scroll to the Per-Table Breakdown.
  2. Compare Revenue and Turns across tables to spot consistently under-performing tables (e.g. an awkward corner table with low turns) versus your highest earners.

3 Understand revenue per seat-hour

  1. Check the Revenue per Seat-Hour figure in the summary strip.
  2. Use it to compare the economic efficiency of different table configurations or dining periods, not just raw revenue.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Occupied Now doesn't match what I see on the floor.
This reflects table sessions as recorded in the system — check that servers are consistently seating/clearing tables in the POS rather than only at billing time.
Average Dwell Time seems unrealistically high or low.
Check for table sessions left open (not cleared) after guests actually left, or sessions closed immediately without reflecting real dwell — both distort the average.
